What Is FASTag?
FASTag uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. A tag is linked to a vehicle and a prepaid or linked payment account. When the vehicle passes through a designated FASTag lane, the toll system reads the tag and processes the applicable fee according to the plaza’s rules.

FASTag Passes: Understand the Difference
Annual, Local and Monthly Passes are different schemes. Their eligibility, coverage, price and validity are not interchangeable.
- Annual Pass: A national scheme for eligible non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans at designated National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas. The current FY 2026–27 fee is ₹3,075 for up to 200 crossings or one year, whichever comes first.
- Local Pass: A designated toll-plaza pass for eligible non-commercial car/jeep/van owners whose registered residential address is within 20 km of the selected plaza. Current official portal information describes 30-day validity and unlimited crossings at that selected plaza.
- Monthly Pass: A plaza-specific pass scheme. Price, vehicle eligibility, validity, documents and usage conditions depend on the individual toll plaza and notified scheme.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is FASTag the same as an Annual Pass?
No. FASTag is the electronic toll payment tag. An Annual Pass is an optional pass benefit activated against an eligible FASTag and vehicle.
Can I use one FASTag for two vehicles?
No. A FASTag is issued for a specific vehicle and must be used only on the vehicle to which it is registered.
Are Local Pass and Monthly Pass the same?
No. Local Pass eligibility is tied to residential proximity to a selected plaza under the official scheme. Other monthly pass schemes are plaza-specific and may have different eligibility and conditions.
Where can I get official assistance?
Use the Rajmargyatra portal, your FASTag issuing bank or the relevant toll plaza’s official contact channel.
Information note: FASTag rules, fees and participating plazas may change. Always verify the latest terms with NHAI, Rajmargyatra, the issuing bank or the relevant toll operator before making a payment. Toll.co.in is an independent information website and is not an NHAI payment portal.
